The Seabird Ocean Resort & Spa - Destination by Hyatt

This place is amazing. I came here for 3 nights to go to legoland and have the first day off from jet lag. The room is gigantic. Full bathroom, Bedroom, second bathroom, living room, closet, entry way. And a 40 ft long balcony. The views were so good! The people working here are so nice! The view is directly of the ocean. Amazing! There is also the Oceanside pier across the street. And the beach. The food was so good. Everyone at the restaurant is great. The pool was cold (I came in March) but that’s likely why. The people working deserve a raise. This is by far the best hotel I’ve stayed it in all of California! Definitely stay here!

Absolutely loved the location and amenities of this gorgeous hotel. Even the open lobby with its book shelves and comfy sectional felt like home. The rooms are clean and comfortable. A pro tip: do not get the rooms on the same level as the pool. You won't be able to enjoy the ocean breezes at night by leaving your patio sliders open. That's because it's on the ground floor and you won't have your own private balcony. When I am at a beach front hotel, I like to sleep with the sliders open and enjoy the ocean sounds. I was unable to do so at this resort. And if you're on the pool level, you won't be able to have an ocean view.

Took a vacation with the family over the New Year’s Eve weekend. This is a family resort, not a 21 and over resort! They have a special New Year’s Eve party at the resort for 21 and over. And nothing for the rest of the people that are here with kids. Leaving families with nothing to do for the celebration at the resort other than leave the resort to find something family friendly and safe and have the concern about being on the road after midnight and worrying about people drinking and driving. To me it’s a shame. People staying here have spent good money. You would think they would take everyone into consideration with a new year’s celebration. I spoke to the manger on duty. I told her it could be as simple as giving the 21 and over people and wristband indicating they are of age to drink. Charge them more than the under 21 group. Not very hard to do and then everyone has an option of being at the party. She was nice, but clearly showed there was never a thought about it. Which tells me it’s just a money grab. Also, ocean view room also means train track view! It feels like a scene from My cousin Vinny where’s the train comes through in the middle of the night (quoting Joe Pesci. what the… is that!).. Complimentary coffee end at 9am. Much too early!

Hidden gem! We were debating amongst many beach resorts in the greater San Diego area and so glad we chose this one. Plenty for our toddler to do, resort is very clean and staff is incredibly helpful. Amenities are top notch and service is above and beyond! Pool overlooking the ocean is truly beautiful. When we checked in they gave us a complimentary upgrade to an ocean view room which was breathtaking especially at sunset. We were originally only staying one night, but we extended our stay now an 3 additional nights! Stay @ The Seabird!

My husband and I stayed at the seabird for our 1st anniversary. The hotel was very nice, lobby open and unique with some charm. Check in was smooth and had no issues. Rooms were comfortable. We got a basic partial ocean view with a balcony and it was very nice. Love the rain shower! Didn't go to the spa but the staff when we asked for a menu was very nice. Does have room service which is a nice bonus. The fitness center was great! Even had a peloton bike which was a luxury. The pool overlooked the ocean. We got a day bed our last day, it was super comfy and nice to relax on. The pool staff was very nice and accommodating. They even took our champagne we brought for our anniversary and prepared it for us by the pool. The hotel is in a great location and has lots of activities offered through hotel services. Will note there were a lot of kids at the resort, didn't bother us but if your looking for a more romantic feel may not be for you. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Don’t let the Hyatt affiliation foul you. While this “resort” charges you premium prices for their location and resort look, that is it. Service is HORRIBLE. Waitstaff in the restaurant and ballroom are rude and dismissive. When you ask to speak to management, you are treated even more poorly by said management. They do not want to listen to your perspective or concern, but immediately defend their employees blindly and try to tell you that YOU are wrong and YOU are needy. I mean…if I was at Burger King I would be treated much better than that. I was ignored and mocked by waitstaff, gaslit by “management” (who, by the way, refused to give me their business card and said they don’t have one). Honestly, the service was reminiscent of being at an overcrowded college bar. Except I’m 30 years older, paying way more money, acting much more respectfully. Rooms were decent and clean, though throughout our stay, the housekeeping was lackluster and did not take out trash from trash cans or refill any missing amenity (shampoo, conditioner, etc). Those are basic things that should not be missed or overlooked. The spa was nice and staff there were wonderful. Make sure to take a look at the other reviews here before choosing to waste your money and be degraded at the Seabird. The good reviews talk about the beautiful property but there isn’t a single review that mentions good service. Don’t waste your money.
